My love for food starts back from when my grandmother lived with us in our home back in Mumbai. Having lost her husband very early in life, my grandmother was a single mother with 4 kids to look after. The eldest was a girl followed by 3 boys.
I’ve heard so many stories on how she managed to raise her kids with little to no support which is why I always admired her. She took on various jobs and sometimes did more than one job at a time. One of her jobs was to be a house cook for families and another was running a little sandwich stall outside a school… Her passion for food and her love to feed people the best with what we could afford was just amazing. That’s where I’ve learned to make the most from the bare minimum of ingredients available to me.
My memories of food all started from the traditional Goan food she cooked. Oh yes, Goan food. Although I was born in Mumbai, my parents were born in Goa and so was my Grandmother. They moved to Mumbai at some point and that became our new home. Coming back to the food at home, there was so much she did and there were so many traditions we had at home and these traditions are what has made me fall in love with food!
